The
Center of the Lake - poems by Todd Young, images

The
Center of the Lake is a book of poems and images released in
a signed and numbered edition of 200. The poems are by Todd Young
of Cayucos, California and the images are by Rupert Deese of
New York City.
The
book is 28 pages long (including end pages) and the ten different
images were silkscreen printed by K-Bor Studio on Stonehenge
paper. The text was letterpress printed by Peter Kruty Editons
and it was published by Manneken
Press in 2000. The dimensions of the book is approximately
10.5" x 12 ". We'll send you the lowest numbered edition we have

and Deese also collaborated on The Orange.
 
Young's poems
have a calm and direct voice that set scenes directly with a no gussying
up and a bit of timing and arrangement for direction. Here is a poem from
the book:
Fresno
Dad, wielding
his old
farmer shovel on the
dusted pink cement
walkway leading
from the shimmering
rose concrete porch,
smashed a gopher.
The blood and viscera
stained. We were
horrified and hugely
impressed.
